Vintage ceramic / piezoelectric phono cartridge marked STC 1000 D THOMSON. It is supplied in its original Thomson case labelled “Cartridge STC 1000 D” and is intended for restoring equipment fitted with the same cartridge body.
Equipment originally fitted with a strictly identical Thomson STC 1000 D cartridge, using the same carrier, playing height and three electrical connections.
Vintage-parts documentation groups the STC 10, STC 100, STC 1000, STC-S, STC 41 S and STC 1000 S families closely together. Some versions use a very similar body or an adaptable carrier, but complete-cartridge compatibility must be confirmed by comparing the slide, height and wiring.
The replacement stylus associated with the Thomson STC 1000 D is the Tonar 157 / 157-DS, a spherical stereo diamond for 33 and 45 rpm microgroove records.
The same stylus family is also referenced for Pathé Marconi STC-7, STC-S, STC-41 and STC-2000 D, Saba Disco Centre STC-10 S and Thomson STC-100 D. This cross-reference concerns the stylus and does not guarantee that the complete cartridges are interchangeable.
Replacement lists include some Thomson SM 602, RC 230 and DT 9801 systems, together with selected Pathé Marconi, Saba, Schneider and Continental Edison equipment. These references help identify the STC7 / Tonar 157 stylus family, but the complete cartridge mounting must be checked model by model.
