VM95 Series Elliptical Stereo Cartridge

The AT-VM95E, the new entry-level Elliptical cartridge from Audio-Technica, replaces the legendary AT95E and benefits from the developments of the AT95EX introduced in 2015. The AT-VM95E features an improved and distinctive design resulting in a more rigid, low-resonance housing. It also includes two integrated threaded inserts, allowing direct mounting onto the headshell or a tonearm with just two screws, no nuts required.

VM95 Series - Stylus Compatibility

The diamond of a stylus wears out after a certain period of use:

• Approximately 500 hours for a Conical stylus
• Approximately 300 hours for an Elliptical stylus
• Approximately 1000 hours for a Microlinear stylus
• Approximately 800 hours for a Shibata stylus

Our dual moving magnet cartridges from the VM95 Series can be used almost indefinitely by replacing the interchangeable stylus. There is no need to purchase a complete cartridge when the diamond is worn; you can simply buy the corresponding replacement stylus, or upgrade your listening experience by choosing a higher-grade stylus.

All six cartridge models in the VM95 Series share the same electromagnetic generator body. Therefore, all six replacement styli are perfectly compatible with the VM95 Series cartridge body:

VM95 Series Compatibility with AT-XP Series DJ Cartridges

• The electromagnetic generator of the XP Series is fully compatible with all VM95 Series replacement styli, though it will deliver a higher output voltage than the VM95 Series cartridges. This optimization matches the phono inputs of professional DJ mixers, which typically have less gain than Hi-Fi equipment.
• The VM95 Series generator is also compatible with the three replacement styli from the DJ XP Series. However, the VM95 Series generator will deliver a lower output voltage than the XP Series cartridge to ensure better compatibility with traditional Hi-Fi phono inputs.
• Note that the recommended tracking force when using XP Series styli is 3g, compared to 2g for the VM95 Series.
• The suspension design and compliance of XP Series styli have been adapted for DJ use, allowing for manual back-cueing. Please note: they are not designed for intensive scratching due to the VM Dual Magnet architecture.
• The suspensions of the VM95 Series and their compliance specifications have been tuned for optimal audiophile performance.
