This ref. Is a real elliptical version on nude diamond , superior in reading quality

For information: N44 and N55 type styluses are compatible to be mounted on SHURE type M44 (various variants) and M55(E) cartridges , however there are differences between an N44E and an N55E: the original N44E has an elliptical tip with radii of 10 x 18 µ (.0004" x .0007") and the support force adjustment range is 1.75 at 4 g, while for the original N55E, the elliptical tip has a radius of 5 x 18 µ (.0002 x .0007") and the recommended weight setting is between 0.75 and 2 g. We recognize an N44E by the brown plastic color, and an N55E by the creamy yellow plastic. Copies of styluses from quality manufacturers generally respect these characteristics and, depending on the cartridge and the use you make of it, you will choose an N44E type stylus .or N55E, the N44E being more versatile (Hi-Fi, radio, disco), while the N55E will be for Hi-Fi use only.

ATTENTION: some copies incorrectly mention "elliptical" when it is a standard conical size with a spherical tip
